These productions demonstrate that NGLOW has mastered large-scale storytelling with a blend of analytical depth, emotional power and cinematic quality.
Investigative journalism – revelations worldwide
NGLOW is known for its investigative documentaries, which often uncover politically, economically or socially controversial topics. Our films for ARD, ‘Story im Ersten’, ‘ZDF Die Spur’, ARTE and Auslandsjournal reveal hidden structures and global power games.
These include:
•‘Putin's grip on Africa and the consequences for Europe’
•‘Alliance against China’ – Former enemies Japan and South Korea are moving closer together and seeking an alliance with Taiwan. An axis is emerging that opposes China alongside the USA. But does this strengthen peace – or does it make East Asia even more of a powder keg?
•‘Syria. Screams from the torture chambers.’
•‘Human traffickers on Europe's borders’ – an investigative look at the network of criminal smuggling organisations
•‘Germany as a money laundering paradise’ – a revelation about shadow financial systems in the heart of Europe
•‘North Korea's path to nuclear power’ – research on secret weapons programmes and their global consequences
•‘China's military policy’ – an analysis of the geopolitical power ambitions of a world power
•‘The medicine emergency’ – why Europe's healthcare system is dependent on China and India
•‘Taiwan: Fear of invasion’
•‘Old enmities – new friendships. Japan, South Korea and Taiwan’
Documentaries on the environment, science and future issues
NGLOW regularly produces for the renowned environmental documentary series ‘planet e.’ on ZDF. Our films analyse the major challenges of our time, including:
• ‘Floating cities – where climate change is forcing a rethink’
• ‘The energy guzzler cloud’ – how data centres are becoming hidden CO₂ emitters
These documentaries combine scientific expertise with powerful images and tangible narrative perspectives that make abstract topics understandable and accessible.
Lifestyles & society – travel reports with depth
Another focus of NGLOW is the production of travel reports with a special focus on people, their lifestyles and their cultures. These films go beyond classic travel formats and offer deeper insights into local life:
•‘Our Russia’ (120 minutes) – a long-term observation of a country between tradition and modernity with Palina Rosjinski and Udo Lielischkies (ARD, SWR)
•‘Mysterious Tokyo’ (90 minutes) – a cinematic exploration of the hidden sides of a megacity (ARD, NDR)
NGLOW shows that travelling is not just about discovery, but also about gaining a deep understanding of societies and their developments.
Global network & multimedia implementation
Behind NGLOW is an international team of directors, producers, researchers, cameramen and editors who operate worldwide. Our films are created using state-of-the-art technology, innovative visualisation methods and well-thought-out dramaturgy.
Many of our documentaries are accompanied by multimedia content, including radio broadcasts, podcasts and supplementary digital content.
NGLOW always thinks in terms of cross-media journalistic formats and ensures that our research has a lasting impact beyond the film itself.

Whether exclusive revelations, socio-political analyses or long-term documentary observations – NGLOW stands for documentaries that captivate viewers, educate them and spark debate.
